How does a light-up gobo/logo projector work?
A gobo projector, also known as a pattern projector or image projector, is a lighting device that projects predefined patterns or images onto a surface. Here's how a gobo projector typically works:
1. Light source: The gobo projector uses a powerful light source, usually a halogen or LED lamp, to generate the light needed for projection.
2. Gobo holder: Inside the projector, there is a gobo holder, also called a portafilter. It's a mechanism that holds the gobo in place. A gobo is a thin disc made of metal or glass, cut with a specific image or pattern. The gobo is placed in the gobo holder, right in front of the light source.
3. Lens: After the gobo holder, there is a lens that allows the light to be focused on the gobo and the resulting image to be projected onto the desired surface.
4. Settings: Gobo projectors are usually equipped with different settings to adjust the focus, projected image size, and sharpness. Some models also allow you to change the gobos quickly to vary the patterns or projected images.
5. Projection: When the projector is turned on, the light passes through the gobo, which blocks the light where the image is cut off and allows the light to pass through elsewhere. The lens then focuses the light on the desired surface, creating a sharp image of the pattern or image of the gobo on that surface.
Gobo projectors are commonly used in a variety of settings, including stage lighting for shows, events, and theatrical performances, as well as in commercial establishments, hotels, and restaurants to create unique visual moods. They offer great flexibility to customize the lighting and atmosphere to suit the occasion.
